THE new Twin Rivers School won’t be open on the first day of term one.
A spokesman from the Department of Education and Training said ‘‘while most of the new site will be ready at the start of term one, some minor internal works are needed to complete one building.
‘‘Unfortunately, this means some of the site will not be ready for the start of term,’’ the spokesman said.
‘‘The Department and the schools agreed it was better to wait until the new school is complete to move to the new site.’’
It is believed grades prep to four will start the schooling year at Echuca South while the grade fives and sixes will start at Echuca West.
Classes will run normally at the existing sites for the first two weeks of term.
Students will be in their new school, one of 11 in the state opening in 2018, on February 19 — three weeks later than expected.
